2018年3月20日，周边外交研究中心张励博士在非洲研究中心做了题为《照片里的故事：让灵魂自由而富足》的演讲。张励博士结合自己的科研经历，着重谈了如何兼顾文献搜集与田野调查，如何平衡自我视角与外部视角，如何将学术研究的乐趣与现实相结合等一些方法论问题。此外，他还围绕资料搜集与阅读，论文选题与写作，以及出国经验与技巧等问题，与中心师生进行了讨论。

演讲生动活泼，全场气氛活跃。张励博士的演讲以东南亚研究为核心，对非洲研究有很好的参照与借鉴。

张励博士系云南大学—美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校法学博士，曾赴香港中文大学、威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校学习，他研究的东南亚水外交问题独具特色，成果曾被《中国社会科学文摘》全文转载。

On March 20, 2018, Dr. Zhang li from the center of neighboring diplomacy made a speech titled "the story in the photo: making the soul free and rich" in the center of African Studies. In combination with his own scientific research experience, he focuses on how to combine literature collection and field investigation; How to balance the self and external perspectives and how to combine the fun of academic research with the reality. In addition, he also discussed the topics of collecting and reading materials, selecting topics and writing, and studying abroad experience and skills.

The speech was lively and vividly. Dr. Zhang Li's speech is centered on southeast Asian studies and has good reference for African studies. Dr. Zhang li is a doctor of law at the Yunnan University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He studied at the Chinese university of Hong Kong and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research on water diplomacy in southeast Asia is unique and has been reprinted in the full text of China Social Science Abstracts.
