2018年6月1日下午，云南大学非洲研究中心举行了2016级硕士研究生学位论文开题论证会。

教育部“长江学者”、云大非洲中心学术委员会主任刘鸿武教授，刘军副教授、梁益坚副研究员、王涛副教授参加此次开题论证会。

此次报告会上论文选题较为多样，内容涉及古代非洲王国的外交关系、乌干达的政治经济国别研究、美非关系以及撒哈拉以南非洲的人口问题等。各位老师对7位硕士研究生的开题报告进行了充分的分析论证，提出了大量富有建设性的修改意见。

刘鸿武老师对各个选题均进行了细致深入的分析，并从宏观和微观等多种角度阐释了非洲研究的重要性和现实意义。刘老师特别强调扎实的资料积累和文献分析对学术研究的重要性，他鼓励学生多走出去，对研究对象不但要建立充分的理性认识，还要有深刻的感性认识。国际关系研究不应只是高高在上的理论演绎，还可以借鉴人类学等学科的研究方法，对所研究的国家进行充分的田野调查，在充分掌握一手资料的基础上，为解决中非合作与非洲发展中可能遇到的各种现实问题提供切实的参考性意见。刘军老师提出要把分析做细做深做透，这样才能为下一步的论文写作打下较好的基础。梁益坚老师认为硕士论文应加强问题导向，好的问题是文章的灵魂。王涛老师强调了文献和资料收集的重要性，一篇好的论文离不开对基础文献的深挖广聚。

CASYNU held the master’s degree thesis proposal argumentation meeting

In the afternoon of June 1st, The Center for African Studies in Yunnan University, held the 2016 master’s degree thesis proposal argumentation meeting.

The director of the academic committee of CASYNU,  the “Yangtze River Scholar” of Ministry of Education, professor Liu Hongwu , and associate professor Liu Jun, associate researcher Liang Yijian, associate professor Wang Tao attended the meeting.

Topics of the thesis proposal were various. It included the diplomatic relations of the ancient African kingdom, political and economic studies about Uganda, relations between the United States and Africa, and the demographic dividend in Sub-Saharan Africa, etc. Scholars discussed the seven thesis proposals, and have made a full demonstration analysis, they put forward a large number of constructive suggestions for revision, which were extremely useful to the students.  

Professor Liu Hongwu gave his in-depth analysis on these proposals, and provided many useful suggestions. He explained the importance and significance of African studies from several perspectives, like macroscopic and microscopic perspective. He particularly emphasized the significance of data and material accumulation, because these are the foundation of the paper. He also suggested the students to go and see the country that they did research. Because establishing a full rational understanding is not enough, what’s more important is to establish a vivid impression on the people who living in the country. And the studies about International Relations shouldn’t be mere theories, it should related to the reality and come from the field survey, the method frequently used in anthropology . The African studies should based on full knowledge of primary materials, and provide practical advice to the problems in China-Africa Cooperation. Associate professor Liu Jun suggested that when you prepare to write, you need to analysis the topic in depth to lay a good foundation for your writing. Associate researcher Liang Yijian said that a good question is the soul of the paper, we should pay more attention to problem orientation. Associate professor Wang Tao emphasized that a good paper must be based on a full understanding of the existing literature.
