2018年6月1日上午，云南大学非洲研究中心举行了2018届博士研究生学位论文答辩会，教育部长江学者刘鸿武教授指导的宁彧、胡洋、周军等三名博士研究生顺利通过论文答辩。
答辩委员会由云南师范大学何跃教授、云南省社科院副院长陈利君研究员、云南大学原副校长肖宪教授、赵伯乐教授、张永宏教授、刘鸿武教授六位教授组成，何跃教授任答辩主席，刘学军副教授担任答辩秘书。

宁彧的博士学位论文题目是《尼日利亚“博科圣地”问题研究》，胡洋的博士论文题目是《刚果（金）东北地区族群问题研究》，周军的博士学位论文题目是《苏丹人民解放运动内部斗争研究》，三位博士生较好地陈述了研究成果和回答了相关问题，答辩委员们对三位博士生的博士学位论文都给予了较高评价，同时也提出了一些修改完善建议。

云南大学非洲研究中心一直是国内培养非洲研究人才的重要基地。刘鸿武教授自1996年起开始培养世界史（非洲史方向）、国际关系专业（非洲国际关系方向）的硕士生和博士生。截至2018年，刘鸿武教授在云南大学指导毕业并获博士学位已达20人，硕士达80多人，所谓“博果”卓越，“硕果”累累！这些博士硕士分布于全国各科研机构、大学、政府部门与企事业单位，有的已经成长为学术骨干、教授、博士生导师，他们中的许多人承担非洲研究的国家社科基金课题，有的还前往中国驻非洲使馆工作，成为中国非洲学术研究与实际工作的新生力量。
今年毕业的三位博士也被相关高校录用，宁彧博士将入职湘潭大学，胡洋博士将入职云南师范大学，周军博士将入职扬州大学，成为非洲研究领域的新生力量。
此外，刘鸿武教授指导的两名硕士生也顺利通过学位论文答辩，邓荣秀免试直博继续跟随刘鸿武教授攻读博士学位，赵跃晨考入上海外国语大学中东研究所继续攻读博士学位。
Three CASYNU PhD students who are instructed by the professor Liu Hongwu passed the doctoral dissertation defense.
On the morning of June 1, 2018, the center for African studies of Yunnan university held a doctoral dissertation defense to the class of 2018. Three doctoral students, including Ning Yu, Hu Yang and Zhou Jun, under the guidance of professor Liu Hongwu, the Yangtze river scholar, successfully passed the thesis defense.
The defense committee is composed of He Yue, professor of Yunnan Normal University, researcher Chen Lijun, vice president of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, professor Xiao Xian, former vice president of Yunnan university, professor Zhao bole, professor Zhang Yonghong and Professor Liu Hongwu. Professor He Yue hold the post of chairman of the defense, and associate professor Liu Xuejun is the defense secretary.
Ning Yu's doctoral dissertation is entitled "Study on Boko Haram in Nigeria”, Hu Yang's doctoral thesis is entitled "Study on Ethnic Groups in the Northeast of Congo" and Zhou Jun's doctoral thesis is entitled "Study on the Internal Struggle of Sudan People's Liberation Movement". Three doctoral students better stated the research results and answered related questions. The defense committee gave high comments on the doctoral dissertations of the three doctoral students, and also put forward some Suggestions for improvement.
The African research center of Yunnan university has always been an important base for training African researchers in China. Since 1996, professor Liu has trained masters and doctoral students in world history (Africa history direction), international relations (Africa international relations direction). By 2018, professor Liu Hongwu had guided 20 graduates with doctorates and more than 80 graduates with master's degrees from Yunnan University. The institute has cultivated numerous excellent graduates both in master and doctoral degree. These doctors and masters are distributed in various research institutions, universities, government departments and enterprises throughout the country, and Some of them have grown up as academic backbones, professors and doctoral mentors. Many of them have undertaken the projects of the national social science foundation for African studies. Some of them have also gone to work in the Chinese embassy in Africa, becoming a new force in China's academic research and practical work in Africa.
Three doctorates who graduated this year have also been accepted by relevant universities. Dr. Ning will be admitted to Xiangtan University, Dr. Hu Yang will be admitted to Yunnan Normal University and Dr. Zhou Jun will be admitted to Yangzhou University, and they will become the new force in African research.
In addition, two master's degree students guided under professor Liu Hongwu also successfully passed the defense of their dissertation. Deng Rongxiu was exempted from the examination and went on to study for a doctorate with professor Liu Hongwu. Zhao Yuechen was admitted to the middle east Institute of SISU to continue to study for his doctor's degree.
