Abstract: Africa has rich renewable energy resources which have great potential for exploitation as same as the Middle East in the past. The structural complementarity between China and Africa open up a vast range of prospects for making use of renewable energy resources. However, China and Africa are facing many challenges such as competition in the fields of technology and market with developed countries, greater structural transition pressure, insufficient capacity-building, unbalances and inequalities in international cooperation mechanisms, etc. In order to meet above challenges, China and Africa should take appropriate measures to improve cooperation strategies which include international aid, technology transfer, industrial transfer, competitive market forces and so on.
